AUSTRALIAN Caravan Club members attending their
club's national muster in Shepparton injected over $200,000 into the city
and its surrounds.
Chairman Craig Humphrey said this equated to an average spend of $1060 for
each RV at the Victorian event.
The 4000-member club, spawned 10 years ago by a group of
enthusiasts at a Sunshine Coast caravan park, now has 42 branches spread
nationwide.
Almost 400 members in 200 RVs attending the latest muster stayed at
Shepparton's showground for up to to
10 days, with members being asked to complete an expense sheet detailing
money spent during their stay.
During the club's annual general meeting held during the
muster, long-time chairman Tom Smith stepped down from the role and was
replaced by deputy chairman Craig Humphrey.
Club shows
gratitude
THE
club showed its gratitude for the welcome it received in the area by
donating $2000 to a local charity. "This contribution was our way of
saying a big thank-you and giving something back in return,"
chairman Craig Humphrey said. The money went to Community Fund
Goulburn Valley, which raises funds and identifies local groups in
need of support. |

Mr Humphrey said the result showed that towns and localities would really
benefit economically from the RV community.
ACC members visited local wineries, a packing shed, SPC, Dookie College
and other tourist attractions and eating places.
"The recorded expenditure shows that during their stay in Shepparton, they
purchased fuel, groceries, alcohol and chemist items," Mr Humphrey said.
Some members had also spent on vehicle maintenance and repairs.
"Our club data shows that over the past five years, ACC members attending
our annual musters have injected in excess of $1,020,000 shared over the
five communities where musters have been held.
"On behalf of the members, I'd like to thank the people of Shepparton and
its surrounds and the Shepparton Agricultural Society for making us feel
so welcome during our stay," Mr Humphrey said.
The club's next national muster is scheduled for next October at Bingara,
New South Wales.
Two Chairman's Musters are also held each year when up to 100 caravans
gather in a regional location for a week.
"These Chairman's Musters also support regional towns with significant
spending by club members," Mr Humphrey said.
"In 2017 these will be staged in Kingaroy in Queensland and at Peak Hill
in New South Wales."
