VICTORIA'S Bellarine Peninsula is enjoying a winter boom in tourist
numbers.
And nowhere is this more apparent than at the award-winning BIG4 Beacon
Resort at Queenscliff, which welcomed 43 percent more guests during last
month's break compared to the same time last year.
The park reported that the winter school holidays had proved successful
and this, along with a massive 89 percent increase in caravanners,
demonstrated that taking the family away for a holiday was becoming the
"cool way" to spend the winter months.
Owner-operator Lorraine Golightly said it was amazing how Queenscliff and
the Bellarine had continued to grow during her 47 years at the park.
"Visits to the region are no longer concentrated to the four weeks of
summer but occur all year round," she said.
"The peaks and troughs are getting less and less, which is a credit to
local businesses who are providing unique experiences for our visitors and
showcasing the region as a destination."
As winner of 54 tourism and business awards and last year's induction into
Victoria's Tourism Hall of Fame, BIG4 Beacon Resort continued to strive
for customer service excellence and guest satisfaction.
"Beacon works hard to attract guests at all times of the year, actively
seeking partnerships and packaging with a range of local businesses to
ensure a stay at Beacon means experiencing all the peninsula has to
offer," Ms Golightly said.
"Increased visitor activity is a testament to the entire peninsula and all
it has to offer.
"This encourages visitor expenditure and increases employment across the
region."
Aligning with Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine’s Action Plan to
become a globally recognised destination that delivered world-standard
visitor experiences, BIG4 Beacon Resort was excited to continue providing
an outstanding guest experience that encouraged further growth for the
region, Ms Golightly added.
Her park was recently included in TripAdvisor's list of Top 10 Australian
Hotels.
