Market research brings action
Restructured membership
scheme
brings more savings
A RESTRUCTURED member discount scheme will mean greater savings in the
long term, according to the BIG4 chain of caravan parks.
Caravanners and other tourists will now have to pay $50 when they first
join the popular scheme, a rise of $10.
But in return, they will be able to save up to $40 each time they visit
one of the chain’s 180-plus parks and resorts across Australia.
The price restructure – effective from October 1 – follows extensive
market research among current BIG4 members and non-member guests.
Previously, new members paid $40 for a two-year membership, entitling them
to a 10 percent discount on each visit … up to a maximum of $30.
The market research findings indicated guests would prefer to enjoy higher
savings for each holiday booking, so the new pricing structure means they
will again save 10 percent, but up to $40 for each stay.
New $50 BIG4 memberships will be valid for two years, with renewals
costing $40.
BIG4 Holiday Parks acting chief executive officer James Shearer explained
that for a small increase in price the new structure offered a greater
discount to loyal customers.
"The increase in the membership fee can be covered off in the first visit
to one of our parks, and there is potential for those who visit regularly
to enjoy greater savings right throughout the year," he said.
Other advantages of being a BIG4 member included benefits and discounts at
some local business and tourism operators.
"Whether it's a two-for-one deal at a local attraction, a baker's dozen at
the bakery or a saving on kid's entry, a BIG4 membership ensures our
guests enjoy savings at each stage of their holiday," Mr Shearer added.
