DECEMBER 31:
Shares in Australian holiday and lifestyle park operators Ingenia opened at a record high of $4.95 today.

Caravanners and other tourists are reportedly trapped after ignoring evacuation warnings as bushfires continue to rage at Lakes Entrance east of Melbourne. Lakes Entrance Recreation and Camping Reserve caretaker told media that some regulars had decided to "bunker down" and were "hoping for the best". Emergency services said they would be unable to help everyone. Lakes Caravilla Caravan Park had posted the following message on social media: "As most people are aware, they have received a text message asking to leave the Gippsland area. If you choose to stay in our caravan park you are doing so at your own risk."

Great Aussie Holiday Park at Albury in NSW offering free accommodation for locals forced to flee their homes as bushfires rage in area.

DECEMBER 30:
Local residents have urged Lockyer Valley Regional Council in south east Queensland to abandon moves to allow caravanners and other travellers to overnight at James Norman Hedges Park in Helidon.

DECEMBER 29:
Man, 61, rushed to Lismore Hospital in a stable condition after stabbing at Summerland Way, Kyogle, campground in northern NSW. Police have charged a 58-year-old man.

DECEMBER 29:
Ute towing Titan caravan overturns on southbound lane of Queensland's Bruce Highway about 1km north of Gin Gin. No reports of injuries.

DECEMBER 28:
A 10-year-old boy died in hospital after being pulled unconscious from Capel Caravan Park swimming pool at Rosebud West in Victoria late yesterday afternoon. It is understood he was swimming just metres away from family members when he was discovered unresponsive in the water. Paramedics treated him before he was flown to hospital where he died some hours later. A spokesman at the park on the state's Mornington Peninsula told Caravanning News today: "It's a sad day and tragic for everyone, particularly the family."

DECEMBER 28:
Raging bushfires force closure of WA's Stirling Range National Park. Stirling Range Retreat, Bluff Knoll recreation site, Mt Trio bush camp and caravan park and Moingup Springs campground evacuated and out of action.

DECEMBER 27:
Reports coming in of caravan and truck crash on southbound lanes of NSW's M1 Pacific Motorway at Morisset near Mandalong Road. Emergency services at scene.

DECEMBER 27:
Two elderly caravanners were lucky to receive only minor head injuries in the early hours when their rig careered off Mount Lindesay Highway and hit trees near Beaudesert south of Brisbane. Their
Mitsubishi Pajero was badly damaged and the caravan completely destroyed. Paramedics took the 64-year-old woman, who is believed to have been driving, and a 74-year-old man to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

DECEMBER 27:
Queensland's Fraser Coast Regional Council has appointed a nightly security guard at its Pialba Caravan Park during the festive season after a spate of thefts and complaints about poor fencing.

Elderly man treated by paramedics and taken to hospital after his 4WD hit caravan at Dicky Beach Caravan Park at Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast last night.

Walu Caravan ParkDECEMBER 22:
THE 43-site Walu Caravan Park on the New South Wales Central Coast is on the market by private treaty. Advertising material from CBRE Hotels says it generated revenue of $540,000 during the last financial year. It described the freehold park, which is near Newcastle, as a "light touch" asset able to be remotely managed with the help of an onsite caretaker.

DECEMBER 21:
Noosa Council's North Shore Beach Campground, which has undergone a $3.2 million revamp, is now taking bookings ahead of its reopening on January 20.

George Day Caravans and Motorhomes at Maddington in WA has been awarded CIL's 2019 Outstanding Performance Award.

DECEMBER 21:
Victoria's Indigo Shire Council is planning to spend $20,000 on engaging a consultant to develop a strategy for guiding the future of its four caravan parks.

DECEMBER 21:
An angry truckie-turned caravan park owner driver says its time the trucking community made a stand against "disrespectful" caravanners and campers occupying parking bays provided for truckies. In a letter to the Big Rigs transport magazine he claims there is an old law forbidding them camping overnight within 10 miles of a designated caravan park. See letter here.

DECEMBER 20:
South Australian couple in 60s preparing to hit the road "big-time" in their caravan after scooping first prize of $20,000 monthly for 20 years in Set for Life lotto draw. The couple announced they had immediate plans to stop working.

DECEMBER 20:
Caravanners who think they may have been overcharged as B-doubles while using Sydney's Transurban toll roads between August 26 and Monday, December 16, 2019, have been invited to contact the company on 13 33 31 for a possible refund or credit.

DECEMBER 20:
WA motoring organisation RAC is planning a major facelift at its newly-acquired 107-site caravan park, including changing its name from Esperance Seafront Caravan Park to RAC Esperance Holiday Park.

DECEMBER 20:
Organisers say arrangements for the 18th National Caravan Clubs Rally at Barmera in SA in 2022 "are off to a flying start" with more than 100 registrations already.

Liquidators of Rolling Home Sunshine Coast Caravan Sales, which which was wound up in 2016, will declare a first dividend on January 29.

An Adelaide Plains Council review to make Two Wells' main street in South Australia "more attractive and interesting" for visitors suggests the provision of RV parking areas.

DECEMBER 17:
The redeveloped Mooloolaba Beach Holiday Park on Queensland's Sunshine Coast was officially opened today. The local council poured $3.8 million into the park which includes 59 large sites all with improved access, new amenities including a camp kitchen, landscaping and improved connections to the beachside boardwalk, part of the highly-utilised coastal path network.

DECEMBER 17:
A man allegedly responsible for "the worst behaviour" ever seen at Biloela's Boomerang Caravan Park in Queensland has been banned. He is reported to have nearly drowned in the park's pool after consuming alcohol.

DECEMBER 16:
Two police motorcyclists assisting a stranded caravanner south of Tailem Bend in SA had a miraculous escape this afternoon. They had stopped on the side of the Princes Highway at Ashville to help a car towing a caravan which had lost a wheel. Their emergency lights had been activated when two passing cars collided head on. One spun off and crashed into one of the police motorcycles. The two elderly drivers were not seriously injured but were taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital for treatment. There were no injuries to the police officers or caravanners. The two cars and police motorcycle were later being towed from the scene.

DECEMBER 16:
Two caravanners injured when vehicle towing their RV rolled on Hume Hwy south of Cullerin Road turnoff in NSW.

DECEMBER 15:
Members of the Australian Caravan Club injected nearly $200,000 into the Victorian city of Warrnambool and its surrounds during their recent seven-day National Muster.

DECEMBER 15:
NSW's Ballina Waterfront Village and Tourist Park is planning to do away with short-term sites and camping facilities in a near $500,000 revamp.

DECEMBER 15:
Caravanners have fled coastal holiday parks north of Perth as bushfires continue to rage.

DECEMBER 14:
Aussie Traveller owner and association treasurer Mike Freney has been honoured with Lifetime Membership of Caravanning Queensland.

DECEMBER 14:
Queensland's Lockyer Valley Regional Council has decided to allow free 24-hour parking for caravans and other RVs at James Norman Hedges Park on the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa. Signs banning overnight stays are being removed. In a report presented at it recent meeting, the council said it was aware the park, 40km east of Toowoomba, was being used by many travellers as an overnight rest area and "reflects travelling behaviours that have been in place for several years".

More than a dozen caravan parks between Bawley Point and South Durras on NSW South Coast evacuated as bushfires raged.
