Sunland factoryJANUARY 14:
Queensland-based Sunland Caravans is throwing open the doors of its factory to the public. An "open day" on February 2 will feature three sessions and will give people a chance to see just how the company's factory at Caboolture builds its award-winning off-road caravans. "It will be a rare opportunity to look inside the heart of our business," marketing manager Andy Fox-Hulme said.

BRAZEN thieves made off with caravans worth a quarter of a million dollars from a Queensland holding yard. Police have now appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious near the premises in Blue Pacific Road at Deception Bay north of Brisbane to contact them. The raiders struck at the holding facility for caravans between January 7 and the evening of January 8. It was secured with a 7ft chain mesh fence and padlocked gates, which they removed before escaping with five brand new 2018 Windsor Silhouette caravans. Investigations were today continuing. Anyone with information which might help track down the raiders is encouraged to contact police, stating reference number QP1900073743.

JANUARY 14:
Police today warned caravanners heading to the Tamworth Music Festival in NSW to be security conscious. The 10-day event kicks off on Friday and attracts fans from all over Australia. And with camping the preferred accommodation option for many festival-goers, police suggest fans should get to know their surrounding campers. They urged people to lock their caravans and campervans when unattended and if possible use a lock to secure tents. Portable alarms could also deter thieves, they added.

JANUARY 12:
Caravanners escaped serious injuries when their 4WD and caravan rolled on Queensland's Bruce Hwy near Yaamba. Tow vehicle reportedly burst into flames after rig careered into roadside ditch. The two travellers were taken to Rockhampton hospital, one with minor injuries and the other complaining of shoulder pains.

JANUARY 11:
Man, 43, now charged with allegedly filming children's private parts at a caravan park and producing child abuse material. He was detained by members of public during the festive season at a Lake Conjola park in NSW. Will appear at Milton court on February 14.

Coffee caravan raffleJANUARY 9:
Barista Racheal Willson hopes to raise nearly $100,000 by raffling off her 1950s replica caravan ... at $50 a ticket. The custom-built "vintage" caravan, dubbed Ruby, has been used as a mobile coffee shop at Yeppoon's Ross Creek boat ramp in Queensland for the past five years. But it can be taken anywhere. Rachael says it's a chance to win "a life style of adventure" and be self-employed. A computerised lottery system operated by her lawyer will choose the winner when all 1900 tickets are sold. Rachael said it was a chance to be self-employed with the raffle giving everyone a chance to own Ruby. "I'd love to see it go to somebody that wants it more for passion than for financial reasons," she added.

Caravan and tow vehicle rollJANUARY 8:
A 61-year-old caravanner escaped serious injuries when his rig ran off the road and flipped in NSW this afternoon. His LandCruiser and twin-axle Scenic caravan both finished up on their sides after the accident on Summerland Way at Leeville. He was taken by ambulance to Casino hospital with an arm injury. SA Police investigate suspicious fire at Salisbury Park which caused extensive damage to a boat and caravan in Goldthorn Road.

JANUARY 6:
A caravanner was killed and a man seriously injured in a collision involving a truck and a car towing a caravan in South Australia this afternoon. She was the third caravanner to die on our roads in three days. Police are investigating the crash which happened on the Naracoorte Rd just south of Bordertown in the State's south-east. It is understood both vehicles had been heading south and careered off the road after the collision. The car's passenger, a 74-year-old woman, died at the scene while the driver, a 77-year-old man from NSW, was flown by emergency helicopter to hospital in Adelaide with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The 61-year-old truck driver from Naracoorte was taken to Bordertown Hospital with minor injuries and shock. The road was blocked to all traffic, with vehicles being diverted around the scene via Rowney Road and the Riddoch Highway. Two people died after their car and caravan rolled on NSW's Oxley Highway at Yarrowitch on January 3.

New Age CaravansJANUARY 6:
Owners of New Age caravans on Sunshine Coast express disappointment over closure of local dealership at Kunda Park. The Victoria-based holder of a CTIAV Manufacturer of the Year Award has switched all business in south-east Queensland to its Gold Coast centre at Varsity Lakes. "To all of our loyal and valued customers, it is with some regret but much excitement that we announce that we are taking all operations to the Gold Coast," dealer principal of New Age Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast said. "The decision has been made in order for New Age to be represented in a bigger and better way than ever before with a level of customer service that will be the benchmark across the country. This is only achievable by focusing our attention on developing the one dealership."

Queensland police investigating after festive-season thieves struck at the packed Inskip Point camping ground east of Gympie.

Crash experts were today trying to piece together the moments before a horror smash on a NSW rural highway which claimed the lives of two caravanners. Emergency services were met with "absolute carnage" on the Oxley Highway near Yarrowitch yesterday afternoon after a 4WD Toyota Prado and caravan rolled (See full story here).

JANUARY 3:

UPDATE: Woman freed from mangled tow vehicle and airlifted to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. Condition
unknown.

Two people died after a car towing a caravan rolled on a rural highway in NSW this afternoon. Rescue teams were trying to free a third traveller from the car on the Oxley Highway at Yarrowitch, about 45km east of Walcha. Police said two occupants died at the crash site. Emergency services, including officers from Oxley Police District, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and a Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter were at the scene. A crime scene has been established and an investigation launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash, which is not believed to have involved any other vehicles. The Oxley Highway was closed in both directions.

JANUARY 3:
Man, 31, charged with aggravated burglary and wounding and remanded in custody after alleged argument at Bushlands Caravan Park at Pink Lake in WA ended with another man receiving chest wounds. He will appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on January 10.

JANUARY 2:
Car and caravan reportedly on fire on Fingerboard Road between Miriam Vale and Agnes Water. No further details available.

JANUARY 2:
Man airlifted to hospital from BIG4 Karuah Jetty Holiday Park in Port Stephens, NSW, when boat engine on which he was working exploded this afternoon. Treated by paramedics before being flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

JANUARY 2:
Weipa Caravan Park in far north Queensland clearing up after trees smashed into awnings as ferocious winds from Tropical Cyclone Penny swept through.
