JANUARY 30:
Caravan reported to have rolled several times after coming to grief on Queensland's Flinders Hwy south of Townsville. No one seriously hurt.

JANUARY 30:
NSW's Picnic Point Caravan Park on the banks of the Murray River will have its riverbank retaining wall stabilised and repaired thanks to a $140,000 grant from the state's Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.

JANUARY 30:
Police have now ruled out foul play in the case of a traveller found dead in his campervan at a NSW rest area. A full-scale police inquiry after the discovery near Goonoo Goonoo Station on the New England Highway has concluded that the 55-year-old man died from natural causes. A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Victoria's 245-site Cohuna Waterfront Holiday Park on the banks of Gunbower Creek will provide electricity to 36 unpowered sites thanks to $85,000 grant from the state' government's Caravan and Camping Grants program.

Police have warned that opportunist thieves are operating at campsites and caravan parks in Crescent Head in NSW.

JANUARY 27:
A couple from the Sydney suburb of Erskine Park plan to retire early and hit the road in a caravan after scooping nearly $700,000 on Saturday's Lotto draw.

JANUARY 27:
Sixteen-year-old boy pulled unresponsive from water at Ski Gardens caravan park on Hawkesbury River at Sackville, NSW, earlier this week has died in hospital.

JANUARY 25:
NSW's Central Coast Council is being asked to approve plans for a $9.27 million 68-site tourist/caravan park at Kincumber, complete with mini golf, tennis and horse riding facilities. The site will cater for short-stay visitors who will be limited to 180 days in any 12-month period, and "long-stay visitors/residents".

Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council in SA is inviting applications from people interested in becoming contract managers for the Riverton Caravan Park in the heart of the Gilbert Valley.

Grey nomads and other travellers in RVs warned to prepare for severe cyclonic weather in WA's Pilbara and Kimberley regions.

JANUARY 21:
Caravanner dies after accident in which his vehicle and caravan veered off the Bruce Highway north of Childers in Queensland and struck a tree today. No other vehicle involved.

JANUARY 19:
Caravan overturned on Queensland's Bruce Highway at St Lawrence today. Emergency services at scene. Queensland Ambulance said no one hurt and the caravan was off the road.

WA's RAC will be staging free caravan safety sessions at Bunbury Geographe Seniors and Community Centre on May 22. Participants will be shown how to safely reverse a caravan or trailer, check tyres and learn about the importance of vehicle weights and other useful tips.

Missing woman at Nwra

JANUARY 12:
Police appealing for help to locate a woman last seen at caravan park in Nowra on January 9. Ellen Lindquist, aged 25, is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 165-175cm tall, of solid build with dyed reddish-brown hair and blue eyes. Police and family hold concerns for the woman’s welfare. Anyone who sees Ellen, or believes they know her whereabouts, is urged to contact South Coast police.

Brisbane-based manufacturer of Windsor and Coromal caravans and global RV renters Apollo Tourism and Leisure has appointed BDO as its new auditors.

JANUARY 12:
Traveller believed to be in 70s died after his Toyota Prado towing caravan careered off NSW's Oxley Highway at Huntingdon. Passenger aged 71, taken to hospital in stable condition. Police investigating and report being prepared for coroner.

JANUARY 11:
Coral Coast Tourist Park in WA is looking for an experienced, reliable and fit couple to manage the 75-site park. "The successful couple will be part of a small friendly team and would be required to start as soon as possible," the park said.

JANUARY 11:
Man died when his campervan erupted in flames after crashing into pylon of rail bridge overpass on Lowmead Road at Lowmead, Queensland.

JANUARY 11:
Tasmania Fire Service has declared a 24hr total fire ban ‒ including campfires ‒ across 12 areas in the southern region. "For people camping particular attention should be given to campfires used in recent days to ensure no residual heat remains before leaving the site," a spokesperson said.

JANUARY 10:
Man recovering in John Hunter Hospital suffering burns and smoke inhalation after small explosion caused by leaking gas bottle at Jimmys Beach Caravan Park in NSW.

JANUARY 9:
Edward River Mayor Norm Brennan in south western NSW has appealed to locals to help the area's struggling caravan parks survive the COVID pandemic ... by staying a night.

JANUARY 8:
A teenager died and three other people were critically injured in a NSW horror crash involving a car and a 4WD towing a caravan this afternoon. The accident happened on Lachlan Valley Way south of Cowra. The 18-year-old girl driving the sedan died at the scene. Her 18-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. Helicopters ferried the 78-year-old male driver of the 4WD and his 80-year-old female passenger to hospital in a critical condition.

JANUARY 8:
Man, 21, appearing in court at Townsville, Queensland, today after caravan park restaurant in Wulguru was broken into yesterday. He was charged with with burglary, evading police, possessing stolen property, stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a vehicle and five of break and enter.

JANUARY 8:
Man bailed to appear in court on May 14 after detectives from the Vehicle Crime Squad recovered a stolen $55,000 caravan bearing false plates at Heathcote Junction in central Victoria.

Campers and travellers throughout WA urged to beware of bushfire alerts. The following national parks have already been closed temporarily: Serpentine, Walyunga, John Forrest and Avon Valley. Regional parks include Mundy and Wungong. Pinjar and Gnangara off-road vehicle areas are also closed. Information on the bushfires and park closures can be found at http://www.emergency.wa.gov.au

Coffs Harbour City Council in NSW has given the green light for 26 new campsites and a new amenities block to be provided at the 147-site Emerald Beach Caravan Park.

Queensland man charged after police allegedly discovered nearly half a million dollars worth of cocaine at a caravan park on the Pacific Hwy at Heatherbrae north of Sydney.

JANUARY 5:
DIY enthusiast rushed to hospital after caravan he was refurbishing fell on him at Golden Gully, Victoria. The 59yo man suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries.

JANUARY 5:
Three people arrested after three caravans and other property allegedly stolen from Lower Moira in Victoria during the festive season.

JANUARY 5:
Campers at Warrnambool City Council's Surfside Caravan Park in Victoria will no longer have to abandon their site for one night a week for COVID deep cleaning.

Woman trapped as tree crushes caravanJANUARY 5:
Woman spent 90 terrifying minutes trapped in her crushed caravan after huge tree fell on it during fierce storm at Wiseman's Ferry on NSW's Central Coast. She was airlifted to hospital with neck and lower limb injuries. NSW Ambulance, the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW safely extricated the woman while CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient. The rapid response helicopter navigated the stormy weather to land in an oval close to the scene within 20 minutes.

JANUARY 4:
Up to 15 vehicles marooned when floodwaters inundated Cumberland River Holiday Park on Victoria's Great Ocean Road.

JANUARY 3:
Police drew a blank after media reports of a caravan incident on NSW's Pacific Highway near Nambucca Heads today. A police spokesman told Caravanning News
they did a patrol of the highway north and southbound this morning and could not find a caravan in distress.

JANUARY 3:
Australian Caravan Club planning a two-week tour to introduce and further the knowledge and confidence of newcomers to caravanning. It will start from the Sunshine Coast on April 18 and take in Yarraman, Miles, Mitchell Weir Camp, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Bollon, St George, Westmar and Chinchilla Weir.
