JULY 31:
Caravanners wanting to brush up on RV security and safety need to go online this afternoon. SA police are taking part in a Facebook live chat session with the Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA, with a focus on caravan and RV security. "Caravans, RVs and their contents are high value targets for thieves and it's important to keep your 'home away from home' just as secure as your actual house," a police spokesperson said. To take part simply head over to the Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA Facebook page at 4pm today.

JULY 31:
WA's Shire of Katanning is being urged to approve an application for a new tourist park comprising four caravan sites and eight chalets on Warren Road farmland. The town of Katanning lies on the Great Southern Hwy nearly 300km south-east of Perth.

Bellview HotelJULY 31:
Caravanners, including those staying at the local tourist park, wanting a tipple at Bellview Hotel at Bell in Queensland may now go thirsty. "As of today, Bellview Hotel is closed to everyone except our locals," the hotel, in the foothills of the Bunya Mountains between Kingaroy and Dalby, says on its Facebook page. "We have agonised over this decision but now have 14 pages of places we can't accept people from in Queensland and it's growing," explained publican Carla Constance. "We are a farmers' pub and I'm not allowing it to go down," she told Caravanning News. "Many travellers lie and we have been abused and screamed at. We are not taking any more of them."

Gladstone Regional Council in Queensland will close all its campgrounds from July 28 because of the coronavirus crisis. They include Lilley's Beach, Boyne Island; Futter Creek Camping Reserve, Boynedale; Calliope River Picnic Area, River Ranch; The Oaks Camping Ground, Facing Island and South End Camping Ground, Curtis Island.

COVID-19 has put an end to plans for a get-together by owners of Retreat caravans. Organisers of October's fourth annual Owners & Family Group rally in Barmera, SA, have decided to cancel the event. "It is not possible to predict what will happen in coming months and we must make the health and safety of all the attendees and volunteers our top priority," they said.

Travellers suffered only minor injuries when caravan ended up on its side after collision on WA's Brand Highway at Greenough, about 20km south of Geraldton.

NSW postie who injured her back when her motorbike collided with an extended portion of an Expanda caravan at Lake Macquarie loses $2m battle for compensation.

WA's Indian Ocean Drive was closed for more than an hour yesterday after a caravan rollover. The accident happened as the Jayco Sterling, being towed by a LandCruiser, approached overtaking lanes north of Nilgen in an area well known for high winds. There were no reports of injuries. The Indian Ocean Drive was built to get tourists off the busy freight route of the Brand Highway and is notorious for its accidents, some fatal.

The 51-site Lismore Palms Caravan Park in NSW is up for sale by private treaty. It is being marketed by CBRE Hotels.

NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres is urging caravanners and campers planning trips not to miss out. He says: "If you're thinking about a caravan or camping holiday in NSW, my advice is book now because there has been a surge in interest and many sites from the coast to the country are getting snapped up months in advance."

Two caravanners were given the all-clear by Queensland Ambulance paramedics after their rig and another vehicle collided on the Bruce Highway near St Lawrence.

Wollongong firefighters tackled a caravan blaze at Fairy Meadow on NSW's Princess Hwy. No one was injured and cause was being investigated.

Boy, 15, charged after allegedly breaking into a Gold Coast couples' motorhome at an Earlville caravan park in Cairns. He is accused of entering premises and stealing, burglary and obstructing police.

Armies of Victorian grey nomads reportedly quarantining themselves for 14 days at camping grounds just south of Queensland border crossings so they can legally head north for the state's winter sunshine.

The coronavirus impact on Fleetwood’s RV Solutions business ‒ comprising Camec and Northern RV ‒ has been less than suffered by caravan manufacturers, Fleetwood Corporation reports. In a message to shareholders today, the Perth-based company said: "This is likely due to existing caravan owners buying aftermarket parts and services to ready their RVs for travel once restrictions ease." Camec was founded in 1963 when the need for a specialised caravan repair business to service the growing caravan tourism industry was identified. Northern RV was acquired in 2018 and provides the caravan and motorhome industry with repairs, insurance claims, servicing, parts and accessories.

Federal and WA government funding of $6m will see a road in front of the Lighthouse Caravan Park at Exmouth realigned so guests will find it safer to reach the beach.

Coober Pedy District Council's tourism committee agenda for July 8 includes recommendation to replace Stuart Range Caravan Park sign which it describes as being "very tatty".

South Australia's Bordertown Caravan Park is set for a $1.4 million spruce up. Tatiara District Council and the Federal Government have both chipped in $700,000 to improve visitor accommodation, including new modern cabins. "The project will provide economic benefit to the district during construction and from increased visitation," the council, which took over management of the park in March this year, says in its budget statement.

Lou and Sandi Beltrame, who have run Victoria's successful Omeo Caravan Park for 12 years, have promised to "fight the fight" after being told in an email from East Gippsland Shire Council that their lease will not be renewed next year. The council plans to take over the reins itself.

Victorian Government today revealed a $5m fund to ensure regional businesses, including caravan parks, affected by the current lockdown will be eligible for up to $225 a night for cancelled bookings, with no cancellation fees charged to residents forced to stay home.

South Australia's Kingston District Council is looking into developing a new long-term RV camping facility at a property it owns on Cooke St, near Kingston Golf Club.
