Overturned caravaanJUNE 30:
THE Newell Highway in NSW has reopened after a caravan rollover south of Narrandera. The highway was closed in both directions at Morundah due to a crash involving a car and caravan. It is reported that crosswinds could have been a factor. It is not thought anyone was seriously injured.

Emergency services attended accident involving car and caravan which closed NSW's Newell Hwy at Morundah in both directions today. No further details available.

Caravans and trailers destroyed in multi-million blaze at King Trailers Hobart warehouse in Tasmania during the early hours.

JUNE 28:
Nambour police in Queensland are still trying to trace the owner of money found at a caravan show in the town two months ago. It was discovered at the South Queensland Caravan, Camping, Fishing & 4x4 Expo at the local showgrounds during April.

 Queensland's Fraser Coast Regional Council investigation suggests there is no demand for extra RV spaces in Maryborough.

JUNE 24:
A South Australian couple has been charged after police allegedly found a stolen caravan. Police swooped on their property at Robe following a tip-off. The Galaxy caravan was reportedly stolen from Millicent between June 13 and 14. Two stolen cars were also recovered. A 32-year-old man and 30-year-old woman will appear in court at a later date.

Lost keyJUNE 24:
Police have quizzed local caravan park operators at Innisfail in Queensland in a bid to unlock their latest mystery. Local cops went on the hunt after a key was found outside a bank on Rankin Street yesterday afternoon and was handed in at the police station. It was attached to a tag bearing the word 'caravan' and number 1. "It appears the key does not belong to any of the local caravan parks," Senior Constable Jane Moran said. "I am sure they are very missed." The key can be collected, with proof of ownership, from the Innisfail Police property section between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday, quoting reference number QP1901213566.

SeaLink ferryJUNE 23:
SeaLink is offering free return tickets for two people who book their car and caravan or camper trailer on a Kangaroo Island ferry, a saving of up to $196. The deal is valid for travel until September 15 this year.

JUNE 23:
This year's three-day VicParks Annual Conference ‒ which opens at the RACV Goldfields Resort in Creswick on August 12 ‒ "is not for the faint-hearted" warns the Victorian Caravan Parks Association. "
With some storm clouds on the horizon and the economy getting the jitters, now more than anything you have to make what you do count," it said.

Fire crews dealt with blaze involving caravan at Emerald Tiki Village caravan park at Anna Bay, Port Stephens, NSW early today. No injuries reported.

JUNE 19:
Car and caravan involved in accident on NSW's New England Highway 10km south of Uralla this afternoon. No further details available.

JUNE 19:
New rules introduced yesterday by the Victorian Government means eligible caravan and residential park residents who have been forced out of their homes can now seek compensation if a park closes. Rent increases will also be limited to once every 12 months.

Investigations underway after mystery blaze destroyed caravan on Shute Harbour Road in the Whitsundays early today.

Up to 50 grey nomads are planning to help struggling farmers in Queensland's South Burnett region. The Rural Aid members will set up camp at Wandai in October.

JUNE 17:
Caravan and motorhome parking at Ballarat's Visitor Information Centre in Victoria has been relocated until July 21 to make way for a "pop-up" ice skating rink during the city's Winter Festival. RV parking has been moved from the back of the Town Hall to the front of the building in Sturt Street.

BroomeJUNE 17:
Broome Shire in WA has put out a warning about illegal camping as southern grey nomads head north for the winter sunshine. "Campers can only set up on private property with permission from the Shire and the consent of the property owner," it says in a newly released statement. "Only one caravan/camp is permitted and neighbours must be notified in writing with their responses included in the application." The council stresses that camping or setting up a caravan on a road reserve (verge) is not permitted.

Brisbane caravan manufacturer Kedron has produced Australia's heaviest off-road caravan, a tri-axle 26-footer boasting an ATM rating of six tonnes.

Car towing caravan involved in accident on NSW's Pacific Highway at Knockrow this afternoon. One of the two southbound lanes closed and emergency services on scene.

JUNE 13:
The Aspen Group has revealed that its luxury caravan park in Darwin has underperformed expectations. In an investor update today it said the FreeSpirit Resort on the Stuart Highway had suffered "disruptive management changes and unfavourable seasonal conditions". Meanwhile, operating profits at Adelaide Caravan Park, Mandurah Gardens and Aspen Karratha Village were above the most recent valuation assumptions. And its Highway 1 Caravan and Tourist Park in SA had performed "reasonably" since it was acquired last year.

Ken Wilson, Truck Friendly programmeJUNE 13:
Avid
Queensland caravanner Ken Wilson will officially launch his self-funded Truck Friendly driver education programme at the CMCA RV Park in Burrum Street, Bundaberg, tomorrow at 1pm. It aims to improve relations between caravanners and truckies. "We need to adopt a proactive, friendly and informative approach to road safety," Mr Wilson said. He designed the program after researching road safety statistics and programs at both state and national levels. He feels strongly that truckies are being unfairly targeted as the biggest problem on roads and highways whereas data shows that drivers of light vehicle are five times times more likely to be responsible for accidents than truckies.

Cassowary Coast Regional councillors in Queensland will today decide whether Innisfail's Haddrell Park should be opened up for overnighting grey nomads.

JUNE 12:
Seven people, including two children, were taken to Ipswich Hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway at Haigslea, Queensland. A caravan and 4WD overturned in the pile-up which blocked the highway for several hours. Five ambulances plus two fire and rescue crews attended the scene. No one was seriously injured and police are investigating.

JUNE 12:
Operators of holiday and lifestyle parks were celebrating 52-week highs on the Australian Stock Exchange today. Shares in Ingenia Communities opened at $3.27 (an all-time high) while Aspen Group's began at $1.035.

Kingdom Caravans liquidators will declare a third and final dividend on July 19.

Bribie Island signJUNE 11:
Queensland police are hunting two thieves who broke into a caravan park cabin at Woorim on Bribie Island and stole a handbag containing money and personal items. The crooks then used the victim's car keys found in the cabin to go joy-riding, smashing their way through the park's boom gates. A police spokesperson said the damaged vehicle had been located and inquiries were continuing.

JUNE 11:
The 16th Coffs Coast 4WD, Caravan & Camping Show at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club on June 15th and 16th will feature 40 percent fewer caravans than normal. according to reports. This is blamed on "difficult times" in the caravan industry.

JUNE 9:
Victoria's 15-site Lakes Haven Caravan Park in Jemmeson St, Lakes Entrance, has been sold for $800,000.

JUNE 7:
Council considering removing toilet signs outside Wirrulla's silo in NSW after complaints that parked caravans, sometimes two deep, are creating problems for trucks leaving the silos.

Liquidators of now defunct RV dealer Kokoda Caravans Sunshine Coast will announce a final creditors' dividend on August 6.

Shares in Ingenia, which operates a chain of 22 holiday parks in Queensland and NSW plus lifestyle communities in Queensland, NSW and Victoria, opened at a year-high of $3.25 today.

Victoria police will launch Operation Regal tomorrow focusing on, among other things, caravans and increased traffic on rural roads. Special attention will be paid to traffic corridors linking metropolitan areas to popular holiday destinations including the high country, Grampians and Lakes regions.

Donnybrook Caravan ParkJUNE 6:
Queensland's Moreton Bay Regional Council has allocated more than $400,000 in its 2019/20 Budget for improvements at two caravan parks. It will invest $300,000 on upgrading 13 cabins at Bongaree Caravan Park and another $120,000 on revamping the Donnybrook Caravan Park amenities building.

Full hearing of a case brought by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission alleging that Jayco breached consumer laws between 2013-15 by refusing refunds after selling faulty caravans is expected to open in the Federal Court, Victoria, in late July.

Fishing gear was stolen from outside caravan at caravan park at Bongaree on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane.

Pooncarie Multi Purpose ParkJUNE 4:
The campground on the banks of the Darling River at the village of Pooncarie in NSW's Shire of Wentworth has changed its name. It is now known as the Pooncarie Multi Purpose Park. For more information on the site, click here.

Thieves made off with a white 2008 Toyota Hiace campervan registration number 332 SGG from north Cairns.

Jabour ParkJUNE 4:
Caravanners and other travellers using a NSW camping ground are being asked to put their receipts from local traders into the facility's honesty box. The Grafton Vintage Car Club's $10-a-night camping facility for RVs at Jabour Park is receiving online rave reviews from grey nomads. "An excellent overnight stay," commented one, while another described it as a "wonderful facility".

Bruce Highway signJUNE 3:
Two separate accidents involving caravans reported this afternoon on Queensland's Bruce Highway. Vehicle towing caravan rolled on the highway near Mount Larcom. All occupants reportedly out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, emergency services were attending an accident involving a caravan at roadworks north of Gin Gin. No further details available.

Dave Berry, TRAKKAJUNE 2:
The RV industry is mourning the death of TRAKKA's founder Dave Berry who was a well respected member of the industry. He took his successful Sydney-based family-owned and operated business from the VW Kombi campervan days in the early 1970s to the refined luxury TRAKKA campervans and motorhomes seen on our roads today, collecting a swag of awards along the way.

Mt Gambier RV dump pointJUNE 2:
THE Australian Caravan Club has commended Mount Gambier City Council in South Australia for its new RV facilities. Its Limestone Coasters president Paul Smith said the new RV daytime parking area and dump point in Frew Park would go a long way towards making the city RV-friendly. "There are tens of thousands of RV travellers on the road at any one time throughout Australia and it has been well documented that these travellers spend at least $100 a day on average," he said.
