OCTOBER 30:
Fans at the Murgon Music Muster in Queensland have been warned to ramp up security after property was stolen from caravans overnight.

OCTOBER 30:
A road train driver whose cattle truck smashed into caravan on WA's Great Northern Highway in 2017 killing two parents has been jailed for three years and 10 months. The caravanners' teenaged children survived the horrifying crash about 165km south of Port Hedland. Sentencing the truck driver, Judge Amanda Burrows told WA District Court that his lack of attention to roadwork signs meant he had to hit his brakes heavily and urgently after failing to maintain a safe distance from the caravan.

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort wins Gold award in the weekend's 2019 Whitsunday Tourism Awards 'Caravan & Holiday Parks' category. It was also named Whitsundays Business of the Year. Silver went to BIG4 Whitsundays Eco Retreat and bronze to Queens Beach Tourist Village in Bowen.

Flinders Shire Council in north western Queensland is seeking tenders from experienced managers to run its Allen Terry Caravan Park at Hughenden. Applications close on November 29.

RVMAP keyOCTOBER 26:
The Caravan Industry Association of Australia is looking for a quality assurance and auditor to ensure caravan manufacturers comply with the Australian Design Rules and its RVMAP manufacturing accreditation program. "This role will be pivotal in ensuring compliance of participants within the program and allowing us to continue to build the program and its reputation," its advertising material says. Applications close on November 4.

OCTOBER 25:
Owners who took part in the world's longest moving line of RVs in north Queensland are now entitled to a certificate from Guinness World Records. This follows GWR's official confirmation recognising the 9.5km-long cavalcade of 868 motorhomes, caravans, campervans and fifth wheelers at Barcaldine on May 26 this year.

Dometic has come up with a new rooftop device to cut the amount of dust entering caravans under tow. Its $699 Dust Reduction System pressurises them with filtered air which, it claims, reduces dust by 97 percent. "There are no motors or electrical parts so there is no need for power," Dometic said. "Due to its simple operation and its ability to be installed into various roof openings, the DRS will be an essential addition to any caravan." It contains a replaceable filter specifically designed to capture dust, particularly when travelling behind a vehicle on a dirt road.

Caravan and camping in Victoria is more popular than ever, new figures reveal. Tourism Research Australia reports that in the year ending June 2019 more than 3.4 million caravan and camping trips were taken in the state.

Court proceedings against a WA man accused of the alleged theft of over $500,000 from caravan consignment trust accounts were adjourned yesterday. Peter James Martin, 69, will re-appear at Perth's Midland Magistrates Court on November 29.

Two men at Dubbo in New South Wales were treated for smoke inhalation after using hosepipes to battle a battery blaze inside a caravan.

Plans by Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of South Australia to pour $7 million into upgrading the Adelaide Showground at Wayville include the provision of an 80-site caravan park.
"It will provide additional accommodation options for visitors coming to Adelaide," chief executive John Rothwell said. "It will provide a further economic contribution to Adelaide businesses and a diversification in revenue for the society." Work is scheduled to be completed in April next year.

OCTOBER 9:
Good news from Australia’s domestic caravan and camping industry. Latest figures show that visitor economy continued a solid performance through June with a rolling annual rise of eight percent in trips to break through 13 million domestic trips for the first time. Nights also increased to a record high, reaching 55.2 million, a five percent annual increase. Total expenditure of caravan and camping visitors increased by 17 percent to exceed $7.9 billion.
