JAYCO Newcastle in NSW will again be supporting the kids' cancer
charity, Camp Quality, this month.
It hopes to raise over $10,000 during its three-day Camping, 4WD, Fish &
Boat Expo, which opens on October 7.
Visitors will be asked to hand over a gold coin as an entrance fee to help support Camp
Quality, which aims to create a better life for every child living with
cancer in Australia.
A spokesperson for the Heatherbrae-based award-winning Jayco dealership
told Caravanning News that general manager Damian Charleson
was "very passionate" about Camp Quality.
"He has been working with them to help raise money for many years," she
said.
He had taken part in the 1000 Ks 4 Kids bike ride adventure several
times, the most recent one raising over $429,000 for Hunter kids with
cancer.
She said Mr Charleson also had the idea to do a motorcycle event and
helped to organise Camp Quality's Moto Cyc.
Its inaugural event was held in March and raised over $40,000.
Jayco Newcastle will be the major sponsor for the
2017 Camp Quality Moto Cyc, with
its team working together to raise $8000.
Mr Charleson also helps out with Camp Quality's other events such as the
2016 Golf Day where he gave not only his time but also donated
prizes to be auctioned off, including a week away at a caravan park in a
loan caravan.
Jayco Newcastle's expo last year attracted thousands of visitors.
The spokesperson said the dealership hoped that this year it could raise
at least $5000 from gold coin entry donations.
"Also, all proceeds from the BBQ will go straight to Camp Quality and
Damian is purchasing all the meat, bread and drinks for this," she said.
"We are hoping this will raise around $6000 based on proceeds from BBQs in
previous years."
