Drama at Sunshine Coast caravan park
Sunbakers flee for their lives as
RV plunges over sand dunes
HOLIDAYMAKERS at a Queensland caravan park rushed to help when a
motorhome plunged over sand dunes in an early morning drama which almost
ended in tragedy.
Sunbathers fled for their lives as the out-of-control motorhome headed
for the beach after the driver's sandal became caught in the accelerator
at the Sunshine Coast's three-and-a-half star Mooloolaba Beach Caravan
Park.
According to local media reports, the 60-year-old driver from the Gold
Coast had been attempting to reverse off wooden chocks.
Luckily, rocks prevented the motorhome from careering into four young
Brisbane university students who had been lying on the sand directly in
the vehicle's path.
"We heard a woman screaming and saw the van above us," of them told the
media. "We jumped up and ran for it."
The shocked driver escaped serious injury, only cutting his hand as he
frantically attempted to free his trapped foot.
