NEWCASTLE'S upcoming caravan show in NSW has been extended, organisers have announced.

"For the first time, we will be operating the expo over four days," Caravan & Camping Industry Association NSW chief executive Lyndel Gray said.

This would allow plenty of time for visitors to check out the 170-plus exhibitors who will be showcasing their products.

The Newcastle Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo will be staged at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and Showground from February 9 to 12.

Ms Gray said it was the association's largest event in regional NSW and would feature hundreds of caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers, tents and camping equipment, accessories and holiday park displays.

"Australians are taking record numbers of domestic holidays and the latest industry data shows there has been strong growth in NSW's caravan and camping sector, with visitor nights up 22 percent over the past 12 months," she said.

"Our caravan and camping expos are a fantastic place to browse, research, review and buy all the latest caravan and camping products in one convenient place.

"It's a great opportunity to compare the huge range of brands and products on display and speak to the experts who can help inspire your next holiday."

Ms Gray said the event, now in its seventh year of operation, would have plenty of entertainment and activities for children, including a jumping castle, fairy face painter and rides.

There would also be free towing demonstrations.

The expo will open from 9am to 5pm (closes 4pm Sunday) and tickets can be bought at the gates on the day.

Adult tickets are $15, concession $10 and children 16 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

There is free onsite parking, with a free shuttle service operating from Hunter Stadium.
