CAPPING off a year in which caravan and camping holidays in New South Wales recorded their strongest-ever performance, Jayco Newcastle took out the state's Dealer of the Year gong at the 2019 Annual Awards of Excellence.

The awards, coordinated by the industry's peak industry body, the NSW Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA), were announced at a gala event at Sofitel Darling Harbour, Sydney.

They recognise businesses and individuals that excel in terms of service, innovation and best practice.

CCIA president Theo Whitmont said they were particularly significant in 2019, which for the first time saw the number of domestic caravan and camping holidays taken in NSW surpass 4.4 million trips.

"In a year in which the NSW caravan and camping industry performed exceptionally, the awards have particular resonance," he said.

"They not only acknowledge the outstanding performances of companies and individuals, but also reflect on the collective achievement of all areas of the industry in continuing to build, grow and innovate.

"Jayco Newcastle should be very proud of their achievements and I congratulate them on their commitment, ingenuity and vision."

Jayco Newcastle owner Damian Charleson said the award was a great compliment to members of his team who did their very best to ensure customers received the very best advice, service and after-sales support.

"We invest in our customers, our team, our business and our community and this award really reflects the focus we have placed on these areas," he said.

The dealership is also recognised as one of the region's best corporate citizens, working closely with Camp Quality Newcastle to raise money for local kids living with cancer.

Jayco Newcastle is the largest reseller of Jayco products in the Hunter and Central Coast regions.
