AUSTRALIA'S biggest manufacturer of recreational vehicles has produced
its first true off-roader after two years of dedicated development.
The prototype rolled off the factory assembly line with only days to spare
before it was due to be unveiled at the recent Melbourne Leisure Show.
Despite being without a name, it has already attracted much attention.
Jayco now offers a comprehensive range
stretching from a tiny J-pod micro caravan to the new robust off-roader,
which is the toughest caravan it has ever built.
It boasts genuine strength and durability to give the power to adventure
off-road with "confidence and style".
The company now wants feedback on the caravan so it can consider refinements before officially releasing it onto
the market early next year.
It is expected to sell for a little under $84,000.
The interior features purpose-built furniture with leather cushions in the
dinette, upgraded drawer runners and Fusion sound system.
There is a solar regulator, Waeco RPD218 fridge, microwave and Thetford
oven.
Two 150-watt solar panels and two 100ah batteries come as standard.
The extended A-frame carries two 9kg gas bottles and two Jerry can
holders. It has a McHitch O-Road coupling.
There are two water tanks and another 62 litre tank for grey water.
Brush bars are designed to protect the sides of the caravan from
undergrowth, and dual shock J-Tech suspension gives an improved ride.
The caravan has a tare weight of 2750kg with a 475kg payload. Ball weight
is listed as 245kg..
