Kids have
fun at a BIG4 park |
New partnership with Make-A-Wish
charity
BIG4 chain helps dreams
of sick kids come true
Have your say
THE BIG4 chain of holiday parks is joining forces with a major
children's charity to help make the dreams of sick kids come true.
The partnership with Make-A-Wish Australia will see caravan parks across
the country hosting a variety of events on behalf of the charity, founded
in 1985.
"BIG4 Holiday Parks sees family, fun and connectedness at the heart of its
values," BIG4 chief executive Steven Wright said.
"In partnering with Make-A-Wish, we hope to bring joy and happiness to
children and teenagers battling life-threatening illnesses and bring their
families together."
He said that in addition to individual parks helping to make in wishes
come true throughout the year, several would host Glow in the Park events.
Inspired by magic and children's favourite Tinker Bell, Glow in the Park
is a community event where parks across Australia will celebrate BIG4's
relationship with Make-A-Wish through an evening of glow-filled fun.
Make-A-Wish has already granted more than 8500 life-changing wishes.
BIG4 is about to introduce a new micro-donation feature on its website
which will allow holidaymakers to donate to the charity when booking.
Make-A-Wish chief executive Gerard Menses explained that the charity was
funded solely by donations.
"Each day, six families around Australia receive the devastating news that
their child has a serious illness," he said.
"That’s 2000 sick kids and teens who need the healing power of a wish each
year, four times the number of children we are currently able to reach.
"Through the help of BIG4 we will be able to bring the healing power of a
wish to many more seriously ill children across Australia."
