CARAVANNERS and campers are being given the opportunity to become property tycoons ... at the mere throw of a dice.

They are now able to buy some of Australia's best caravan parks ‒ or even a group of them ‒ after the release of a new version of Monopoly.

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia joined forces with Monopoly to develop what is believed to be the world's first ever caravanning and camping themed version of its board game.

The specially produced game was promoted on Channel 7's Sunrise breakfast show by weatherman Sam Mac who took a road trip in a Jayco motorhome and visited some of the featured properties.

"This is a great branding opportunity for our industry," a spokesperson for the association told Caravanning News.

"We believe caravanners and campers love the game and will love a special edition matching their lifestyle."

The special game could make the perfect Christmas gift under many trees this year.

The association will produce a limited number of Monopoly boards, customised for the Australian caravanning and camping market.

There are special playing pieces together with Chance and Community cards specific to the industry and lifestyle.

Houses and hotels have become tents and cabins.

An industry auction for the board's 22 properties was held this year to raise funds for the initiative, with caravan and holidays parks bidding for their place on the board.

"The auction winners have secured a place in Monopoly history," the association spokesperson said.

News of the new game attracted much attention when Caravanning News published a story on its Facebook page in August, with one of the 9447 people reached pondering: "Wonder if there are any free camping squares on the board."
