Caravanning-themed Monopoly

Monopoly with a caravanning and camping theme

'Great branding opportunity for industry'

Caravanners, campers encouraged to play the game in an Aussie first

Have your say

CARAVANNERS and campers are being asked to play the game ...

But they will have to wait until later this year before they can become property tycoons on a unique Monopoly board with a real true blue Aussie caravanning theme, believed to be a world first.

The board game is expected to be released in November and follows a joint effort by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia and Monopoly.

Monopoly is the world’s biggest selling board game of all time, played by a billion people in over 111 countries.

"This is a great branding opportunity for our industry," a spokesperson for the association told Caravanning News.

Businesses involved in the project had been "super excited" at the opportunity to align with one of the world's biggest brands, which would not have been possible alone.

All had fond memories of playing the game themselves and wanted to be part of the world-first Australian edition.

When approached by the association, Monopoly had been delighted to have its brand associated with the caravanning and camping lifestyle.

"We believe caravanners and campers love the game and will love a special edition matching their lifestyle," the spokesperson said.

"We think it will make the perfect Christmas gift under many trees this year."

Caravan Industry Association of Australia will produce a limited quantity of Monopoly boards, customised for the Australian caravanning and camping market.

This includes special playing pieces together with Chance and Community cards specific to the industry and lifestyle.

Houses and hotels will become tents and cabins.

An industry auction for the board's 22 properties was held to raise funds for the initiative, with caravan and holidays parks bidding for their place on the board.

"The auction winners have secured a place in Monopoly history and the money raised is being invested into the project," the spokesperson added.

News of the new game attracted much attention when Caravanning News published a story on its Facebook page, with one of the 9447 people reached pondering: "Wonder if there are any free camping squares on the board."

Featured  in the game are Brisbane Holiday Village, Park Lane Holiday Parks, Top Parks, Easts Holiday Parks, RACQ Cobram Resort, Easts Beach Holiday Park, BIG4 Porepunkah Holiday Park, Watts Holiday Parks, Mudgee Riverside Holiday Park, Kings Point Retreat, BIG4 Beacon Resort, Gold Coast Holiday Park, Coffs Coast Holiday Parks, Corindi Beach Holiday Park, Rowes Bay Beachfront Holiday Park, Nagamble Lakes Leisure Park, Darwin FreeSpirit Resort, August Moon Caravan Park, Kiama Coast Holiday Parks, Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park, Discovery Parks and Wimmera Lakes Caravan Park.
