Road widening and improved power supplies

Multi-million dollar upgrade for park saved from redevelopers

A BRISBANE caravan park is undergoing a multi-million dollar upgrade.

The State Government-owned Monte Carlo Caravan Park on the city's southside is having roads widened and resurfaced, new kerbs and gutters installed and improved power supplies for its 136 sites.

New boom gates will improve security and there will be extra parking facilities for visitors. Infrastructure is also being improved in the $5 million facelift.

Threatened with closure and redevelopment, the 53-year-old park was bought by the former Housing Department about 20 years ago to provide affordable accommodation for the less fortunate.

Work is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
