NEW South Wales' peak caravanning industry body has announced the
launch of a new consumer expo to be held at Sydney Showground.
The Caravan & Camping Industry Association NSW said the four-day event
would be held at Sydney Olympic Park from November 3 to 6 and will feature
a full range of the latest RVs, holiday spots and products.
"It will showcase the best of our industry, and it's at the perfect time
of year to provide inspiration for people as they start to plan their
summer holidays," president Theo Whitmont said.
"The announcement of the new show comes at an excellent time for the
industry due to major construction works happening at our Penrith Expo
venue, making it impossible to run our show there this year.
"By securing the new Sydney Showground venue in November we will be able
to continue to deliver two major shows in the greater Sydney area this
year and this new expo will be a fantastic complement to our existing
hallmark supershow event held at Rosehill each April."
With dates for the new event conflicting with the South Coast Expo at
Batemans Bay, the association will postpone that event this year in
support of the new Sydney Showground opportunity.
"The Sydney market is extremely important to the industry, accounting for
40 percent of all caravan and camping visitors in NSW," Mr Whitmont said.
"Caravan and camping holidays are increasing in popularity, up 14 percent
year on year and accounting for 4 million overnight trips undertaken in
NSW in the 12 months to September 2016.
"The association is committed to driving continued growth in the industry
and our high quality industry showcases form an important part of our
promotional plans, helping us to engage people who are already regular
campers and caravanners as well as developing new audiences."
