CARAVAN and camping holidays in New South Wales continue to grow in
popularity, according to Tourism Research Australia's latest figures.
They continue to spearhead the state's domestic visitor night growth, with
almost 16.9 million nights spent caravanning and camping in the past year.
This was a 26 percent increase in the number of holiday nights taken in
the year ending September 2016, according to figures recently released by
Tourism Research Australia.
"These are amazing figures which show how Australians' love of a caravan
or camping holiday continues its rapid rise," the state's Caravan and
Camping Industry Association chief executive, Lyndel Gray, said.
"These growth figures reflect the positive impact of a new TV campaign
which was run by CCIA NSW during the July/August period.
"The ads, which aired statewide, inspired people to consider a caravan and
camping holiday and spend quality time with family and friends in amazing
NSW locations."
She said the overall domestic results indicated that couples and families
were increasingly engaging with caravan and camping holidays, and more
people were travelling with children.
"This reflects what our members are also seeing in their parks," Ms Gray
explained.
"Many of our parks offer fantastic family friendly holiday options with
facilities like water slides, play areas and pools, tennis courts, kayak,
canoe and bike hire, entertainment and some even have kids clubs.
"The great thing about holiday parks in NSW is that they offer something
for everyone and every style of traveller.
"You can pitch a tent, drive up with your caravan, motorhome or camper
trailer or stay in a luxury cabin or safari tent with all the comforts of
home in amazing locations throughout the state.
"NSW offers some of the best caravan and camping holidays possible and we
are looking forward to welcoming even more people to our parks in the
coming year."
