Sunshine State's outback awards set to be
'cracker of a celebration'

ABOUT 250 tourism industry representatives are expected to attend when prestigious ouback awards are handed out next month.

The 2017 Outback Queensland Tourism Symposium and Awards will take centre stage from November 2 to 4 in Cloncurry.

The local shire council has spent the past six months preparing for the event.

Association general manager Peter Homan is eager for the the Sunshine State's tourism industry to gather for the awards.

"We are excited for those involved in creating a strong Outback Queensland tourism industry to come together to commend their efforts over the past year," he said.

"We are looking forward to hearing from over 20 speakers such as OQTA chairman Stuart Mackenzie and Cloncurry mayor Greg Campbell.

"With a total of 15 categories, the awards are sure to be a cracker of a celebration of the Outback Queensland tourism industry."

On November 3, the Outback Queensland Symposium will present an informative session on the new Best of Queensland Experiences marketing initiative as well as a presentation by intelligence solution provider ReviewPro.

Other speakers on the day include Tourism and Events Queensland chief executive Leanne Coddington and TripAdvisor sales executive Alanna Green.

The awards ceremony, themed Step Back in Time, will be held on the evening of November 4.
