Return in consumer confidence as . . .

Exhibitors brace themselves for record crowds at expo

EXHIBITORS are bracing themselves for record crowds at the forthcoming Penrith Caravan, Camping & Holiday Expo in New South Wales.

Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA) chief executive Barry Baillee said an increasing economic stability had seen a return in consumer confidence.

"This will undoubtedly see this year's Penrith expo break last year's record numbers," he predicted.

More than 150 exhibitors will showcase an abundance of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, campervans, fifth wheelers, camping equipment and tents at the September 10-12 event, which will be held at Penrith Panthers.

There will also be 4WD products and accessories on sale.

April's Caravan and Camping Supershow at Rosehill drove visitor numbers to an impressive 88,237 ... a 12.8 percent rise on last year.

"The caravan, motorhome and camping industry has been the fastest growing domestic tourism sector in NSW and Australia for the past 10 years," Mr Baillee explained.

Camping was becoming more appealing to all demographics and he said the industry would continue seeing large increases in campers and families trying the outdoor experience for the first time.

With free admittance and parking, the expo will offer pre-summer sales.
