Fun and birthday celebrations

BOROMA may have disappeared from the caravan manufacturing scene ... but owners seem determined to keep the name alive.

Nearly 70 Boroma and Future Systems caravans rolled into the BIG4 Yamba Clarence Coast Resort in NSW for three days of fun and festivities planned by their by owners. Seven cabins were also full of owners and their friends.

The Boroma Roamers rally was organised by Rick Avery and Barb Heckendorf who said they greatly appreciated the support and assistance from fellow Boroma owners.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to be able to put together a rally for Boroma Roamers who showed their support and interest by attending in great numbers which far exceeded our expectations," they said.

"It was great to catch up with friends who have travelled around Australia in the past 12 months and with Roamers from previous rallies."

The group's general meeting was held during the event and chaired by Barb Heckendorf. He made special mention of fellow Boroma Roamers who had been "promoting and networking" for the rally and Rattlers newsletter, ensuring the Boroma "family" was being kept informed and together.

The meeting unanimously decided to continue with the name Boroma Roamers and that the newsletter be known as The Rattlings.

Former Boroma Caravans co-owner Peter Russell later spoke to a small gathering in his cabin about his future.

It appears he has been approached to help in building a new brand of caravan. The Roamers wished him well with his new venture.

Activities during the rally included lunch at a local restaurant, meet-and-greet happy hour, spit roast, photographic competition, coffee demonstration and river cruise.

Seventeen Roamers remained after the end of the rally to attend a Melbourne Cup Day lunch and afternoon of entertainment at the Yamba Shores Tavern Pelican Restaurant.

The Clarence Coast Resort management even arranged for a limousine to collect 24 Boroma Roamers and take them to a local restaurant to help celebrate Barb Heckendorf's birthday, complete with a "sparkling" birthday cake.

We're told "a mountain of seafood" was demolished during the evening, washed down with some enjoyable beverages.
