Exhibitors celebrate 20 percent rise in sales

Leisurefest an encouraging pointer to the future: RVMAA

EXHIBITORS are celebrating a 20 percent rise in sales at last month's major leisure show in Victoria, it has been revealed.

Crowd numbers at the Leisurefest Outdoor Leisure and Lifestyle Expo in Sandown increased by 10 percent and many companies reported healthy order books.

According to the Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers of Association Australia (RVMAA), the encouraging figures suggest the caravanning industry is likely to achieve record manufacturing and sales figures in 2010.

President Gerry Ryan said the increasing demand had created a shortage of second-hand vehicles and this was pushing up the sales of new vehicles even further.

"The main buyers have been families who are looking to get into the market in the lead-up to Christmas and taking advantage of an affordable holiday solution.

"We have also seen retirees coming back into the marketplace due to the improvement in superannuation funds and the share market."
