Cricket match a massive hit for specators Rally raises $12,000 for Wildlife Warriors SUNSHINE Coast-based Sunseeker Caravans' three-day Owners Rally at Boreen Point raised $12,000 for Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warriors. The annual event, which is now in its third year, brought together owners of Sunseeker and Marvel caravans to provide educational tips, demonstrations and entertainment over a relaxing weekend. And for the first time the get-together staged a Marvel versus Sunseeker 20/20 cricket match. Apparently, it proved to be a massive hit for spectators and those who took part, with many laughs and banter. For the record, Marvel beat Sunseeker by 11 runs, the highlight coming when Sunseeker owner Chris Michel was clean-bowled by dealership manager John Cullen. A charity auction was one of the highlights of the rally during which participants selflessly dug deep to support the Wildlife Warriors, despite the unprecedented challenges that many are facing themselves during the coronavirus crisis. "Despite the current pandemic, sick animals still need to be cared for and donations like these greatly helps the cause," Mr Michel said. "The rally took place prior to the restrictions on social gatherings and travel. We feel it is important to spread the positive aspects of caravanning prior to the COVID-19 pandemic so we can all look forward to the resumption of normal life."
