Caravan for hire

Try before you buy

'Try before you buy' success

'Great response' to caravan dealer's new hire service

Have your say

A QUEENSLAND caravan dealer's "try before you buy" venture has taken off in a big way.

Family-owned Tullmack Caravans at Mackay now hires out caravans after seeing the industry mushroom over the years.

Director Trudi Jensen told Caravanning News there were many people unable to caravan because of the initial cost or space to store an RV.

"We had a lot of inquiries about whether we hire caravans so we thought we would look into it to help give those without a caravan the opportunity to see what it's like," she said.

"Being caravanners ourselves, we would like to put as many people in caravans as possible as we know and understand the memories you create, the wonderful life that travelling brings and the new friends you make along the way."

Trudi bought Tullmack Caravans  ̶  founded 18 years ago  ̶  in partnership with her husband Ross, brother and sister in-law Adrian and Michelle Adair and parents Greg and Heather Adair.

Born and bred in
the Mackay region

The Adairs and Jensens were born and bred in the Mackay region and have been caravanning and camping for years.

They started Let Loose Caravan Hire Mackay last October and invested in three caravans for hire.

"We have had a great response from couples and families so far, especially over the school holidays," Trudi said.

"We hope this will allow and encourage more customers to travel this beautiful country."

She explained how having a young family of three children made it "quite difficult" to hire a motel room because most would only allow a maximum of four in a room. "So we had to hire two rooms," she said.

"But having a caravan with three bunks and a queen bed, together with a toilet and shower, now enables us to travel wherever we want and at a much cheaper rate then two motel rooms."

Customers can hire a fully-equipped Traveller or Goldstream caravan from $115 a day (for hires of 31-plus days) ... they just have to take their own food, drinks and clothes.
