'We are delighted with the results'

VIRTUAL CARAVAN SHOW A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

Rob LucasAUSTRALIA'S unique virtual caravan show thought to be the first of its kind in the world was a "resounding success", according to the organisers.

More than 67,000 people logged into October's online event featuring 164 exhibitors, with the feedback from attendees being overwhelmingly positive.

The five-day virtual exhibition was an innovative take on traditional caravan and camping shows, which are currently on hold due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

THE SHOW GOES ON

THE show was so successful it has been decided to extend it, in a limited form, until November 5. All demonstrations and webinars are available, simply scroll through the Auditorium Schedule to the one you wish to watch and click play. But, the event organisers warned, show specials offered during the show may have been adjusted.

"Being the first caravan and camping virtual show in Australia, and most likely the first in the world, we are delighted with the results and the feedback from the customers and exhibitors," Caravan Industry Victoria chief executive Rob Lucas (pictured) said.

"We have already been asked when we will run another virtual show. What was pleasantly surprising was the number of sales ... and people even bought caravans."

Statistics showed there were 67,363 attendees, 204,675 booth visits, 171,053 brochure views, 124,261 video views and 260,278 views of the operating platform.

Caravan Industry Victoria president Michael Pebbles believed the show was a reflection of a changing world.

"It was critical for the association and industry to adapt to the significant challenges that 2020 has delivered to ensure the future of a $2.3b industry in Victoria," he said.

"In the last six months, the world has changed. And the way we see the world has changed too. We are pleased our members and industry customers supported the association in being innovative." Have your say
