for revamp
Gold Coast parks set for $39m facelift

CITY of Gold Coast tourist parks will
benefit from a $39 million revamp, with much-needed upgrades planned over
the next decade.
Lifestyle & Community chairman Councillor Hermann Vorster said the
overhaul would ensure the City's tourist parks remain industry leaders
both in Queensland and nationally.
"Our parks welcome 150,000 guests each year and inject $86 million into
the economy," he said.
Gold Coast tourist parks are a self-funded entity and do not rely on
general rate funds. All planned spending will be fully paid from earnings.
In the last 18 months, $1 million has been invested to refresh tourist
park assets including two vintage caravans at Burleigh Tourist Park and a
wellness centre at Tallebudgera Tourist Park.
Further proposed park investments across a 10-year period (subject to
detailed design) include:
Broadwater Tourist Park
• A new camp kitchen and guest lounge overlooking Broadwater Parklands
• Four new tourist sites to replace the existing camp kitchen
• A second gated park entry for use during peak periods
• Conversion of the existing recreation room into a pool lounge
• 18 new tourist villas overlooking Broadwater Parklands
• 19 new tourist villas overlooking Loders Creek foreshore and the
Broadwater
• Nine new studio villas in the south-west corner
• Six new duplex villas overlooking the playground and jumping pillow
• Dump points adjacent to the two existing amenity buildings
• Public walkway and landscaping along Loders Creek foreshore
• Upgraded ensuite units
• Concrete slabs on high-use sites.
Tallebudgera Tourist Park
• New guest lounge on the foreshore overlooking the swimming enclosure
• Four new 3-bedroom tourist villas overlooking the creek
• Rear access to provide two-way gated access during peak periods
• Significant upgrade to the pool and water play facilities
• A new southern amenity building with central guest lounge overlooking
both pools
• 12 new tourist villas overlooking the pool precinct
• Conversion of existing recreation room into a café
• A new children's playground adjacent to the café
• A new maintenance shed and screened compound for park equipment
• New tourist sites and four new studio villas adjacent to the existing
tennis court
• A new barbecue shelter beside the tennis court
• Upgrade of the northern barbecue shelter
• Replacement of concrete slabs on high-use sites
Main Beach Tourist Park
• New main amenities building, laundry and clothes drying area
• Eight new drive-through sites where the old amenities building was
located
• A new visitor car parking area
• Six new tourist villas
• Larger tourist sites with the removal of five existing old ensuite
buildings.
• A new northern ensuite building and new concrete slabs
• A new barbecue shelter for the northern villa precinct
• A new pool lounge and upgraded pool
• New synthetic grass sites along the southern park boundary
• Conversion of recreation room into a new camp kitchen
• Replacement of concrete slabs on high-use sites
Burleigh Beach Tourist Park
• Six new tourist villas along the eastern boundary overlooking Rudd Park.
• Additional storage for park maintenance equipment
• Conversion of existing recreation room into a camp kitchen (short term)
• A new camp kitchen adjacent to the main amenities building (long term)
• Seven new surf-themed studio villas on the top terrace along the eastern
park boundary
• A new 2-bedroom tourist villa
• Two new 3-bedroom tourist villas
• Replacement concrete slabs on high-use sites
• A small toddlers' playground adjacent to the new camp kitchen
Ocean Beach Tourist Park
• Raise height of existing villas to provide ocean views
• New 2-storey villa behind the existing villas
• Four new studio villas
• Realignment of internal road to increase the depth of the central sites.
• New services and slabs to the reconfigured sites
• New concrete slabs on high-use sites
Jacobs Well Tourist Park
• New public toilet for day-use reserve and boat ramp
• New camp kitchen on the site of the old public toilet building
• New laundry building and clothes drying area
• New toddlers' playground area to replace old amenities building
• Two new tourist sites in place of the existing boat wash and playground
• Four new tourist villas overlooking the boat ramp
• New ensuites to the rear of the existing safari tents and car parking
spaces
• New internal road creating additional sites near Jacobs Well Road
• Storage, workshop and shed for all park equipment
• Concrete slabs on high-use sites
• A footpath, landscaping, park signage and services at the park entry
Detailed design concepts will be completed in 2022-23, with a staged
delivery between 2023-30.
