NSW’s favourite caravan and camping lifestyle expo, the Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow, has struck gold.

The popular event has been awarded the highest accolade, taking out Gold in the coveted 2021 NSW Tourism Awards Major Festivals and Events category.

"We are proud to have received this prestigious award recognising the supershow not only for being a high-quality event, but also acknowledging the huge economic value our industry generates in regional communities," Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW chief executive Lyndel Gray (pictured) said.

The event generated significant sales and was a great experience for more than 60,000 people who attend the six-day event.

"Since its humble beginnings more than 50 years ago, the supershow has grown a successful program which brings hundreds of traders together in the one place.

"It provides a consumer showcase of the latest caravan and camping products, services, destinations and experiences.

"Time and again it has proven to be a highly successful way to attract, engage and develop consumer audiences with an interest in caravan and camping holidays in NSW."

Ms Gray said that over the years the association had expanded its offering and now also operated large regional events in Illawarra, Newcastle, and Canberra.

More than 20,000 visitors had attended its three-day Newcastle Caravan Camping Lifestyle Expo at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre & Showground, from February 4-6.

"Despite the challenges of running large scale events in the current climate, the Newcastle Expo was hugely successful," Ms Gray said.

"It reflected the confidence our visitors have in the association's ability to stage quality events, with every aspect of the industry showcased and the needs of our visitors at its core."

The 2022 Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow will be held at Rosehill Racecourse from April 19 to 24 and will feature thousands of the latest products.

There will be a strong line-up of entertainment, education, food and fun for the whole family.
