AWARD-winning Coromal and Windsor dealer Takalvans has officially opened its new $2 million sales and service centre in Bundaberg, Queensland.

Local civic dignitaries, including Bundaberg Mayor Jack Dempsey, and officials from Perth-based Coromal and Windsor builders Fleetwood attended the event.

Takalvans is owned and operated by Dale Rethamel and wife Natalie, who claim to be the Rum City's longest serving caravan dealers.

Their company has twice won Coromal Windsor Regional Dealer of the Year and Service Dealer of the Year awards.

Established in 1998, Dale and Natalie bought the business in 2006.

Ruth and Don Firth: just dreaming

Several hundred people attended the official opening in Bundaberg's sweltering heat as temperatures continued to soar.

Among them were veteran caravanners Don and Ruth Firth, who were caught drooling over a luxury $100,000 Coromal Princeton which took pride of place in the new sales area.

Both in their 70s, they have not been without a caravan for 48 years.

"We have watched Takalvans grow over the years and think their new premises are just the bee's knees," they told Caravanning News.

"It's an absolute delight to visit because everyone is so friendly and helpful. We bought our last two caravans from them."

And as for the Princeton: "We are just dreaming ... well, we can at our age," they sighed.
