VICTORIA'S peak body for the caravan and holiday park industry has paid tribute to the multi award-winning BIG4 Beacon Resort at Queenscliff.

The praise came after the Bellarine Peninsula holiday park scooped Gold for the third year running in the recent Victorian Tourism Awards.

"The achievement in winning this award across three years is testament to the park's commitment to developing superior service to its customers," Victorian Caravan Parks Association chief executive Elizabeth White said.

It had a passion for growing and continuing to delight and amaze visitors, she added.

The park now enters the Hall of Fame for the second time as a triple winner.

BIGGEST EMPLOYER

BEACON is one of the largest accommodation providers in the region and biggest employer of locals under its "employ local" policy. It generates around $18.5m for the region, with an astounding 54,000 guest nights on average a year. The resort has been owned and operated by the same family for 45 years and currently has three generations of the Golightly family working within the business.

"It can rightly be proud of its standard-setting achievements," Ms White said.

Resort owner and operator Lorraine Golightly commented: "To prove ourselves again in this incredibly competitive category is a credit to the entire Beacon team.

"Their enthusiasm, dedication and drive to deliver the best possible experience for our guest is key to our success.

"To have been inducted into the Hall of Fame for the second time in the businesses history is way beyond our wildest dreams."

Ms White said Victoria was "blessed with amazing caravan parks in amazing locations across the state".

"Other contestants for the 2016 RACV Victorian Tourism Award in this category can equally be proud of their achievements in reaching the finals of what is a highly competitive process."

These included the BIG4 Bellarine Holiday Park, BIG4 Bright Holiday Park, BIG4 Inverloch Holiday Park, Echuca Holiday Park and RACV Cobram Resort.

Ms White said all had met the "very high standards" required for entry into the awards.

The Victorian Caravan Parks Association (VicParks) has more than 420 member parks offering a range of caravan, cabin and camping facilities.
