Community feedback invited
Victorian RV overnight
rest areas under review
Have your say
A TWO-YEAR trial of two RV friendly
overnight parking locations at Lion's Park and the local showgrounds in
Numurkah, Victoria, is under review.
"We are seeking the community's feedback on its success to determine if
these sites should continue being RV friendly," a Moira Shire Council
statement said.
Mayor Libro Mustica said that following the adoption of its Recreational
Vehicle Friendly Strategy, the council had received a petition to make
Numurkah ‒ population 4768 and located on the Goulburn
Valley Highway north of Shepparton ‒ RV friendly again under the
Caravan Motorhome Club of Australia accreditation scheme.
“"In 2020, Council endorsed a two-year trial of two RV friendly overnight
parking locations," he said.
"Historically, all four major towns – Yarrawonga, Cobram, Numurkah and
Nathalia – were designated as RV friendly towns.
"The strategy made the shire RV friendly.
However, Numurkah’s RV Friendly Town status was removed as there was no
real provision for free or low cost overnight camping in close proximity
to the town.
“A review of this trial has commenced and we are seeking the community’s
feedback on the success of the trial.
"At the same time, RV visitors to these two locations will be asked to
complete an economic impact survey."
The trial came in response to a petition to make
Numurkah RV friendly under the Caravan Motorhome Club of Australia
accreditation scheme.
"A review of this trial has commenced and we are
seeking the community's feedback on its success, to determine if these
sites should continue being RV friendly," Cr Mustica
said.
